All studio work is completed by Steve, Steve has a  wide range of experience especially with guitar-driven music. All recording takes place in an acoustically treated environment with a selection of great microphones and preamps to get the best results for your song’s.

Mixing: When you’ve finished laying down the tracks for your songs, 27D is here to help you perfect your recording into a masterpiece. Services include auto-tuning vocals for either effect or to correct pitch or timing errors, drum editing/replacement, re-amping or even editing your song down to a shorter length.

Mastering: Mastering is not all about getting your song as loud as the competition it is about getting a consistent sound between songs on your product, it is also about making sure that the recording conforms to a standard (Red Book) so your chosen pressing plant will be happy, we even include help with getting your songs on into the digital world.

Project Production: 27D can help you with your music project, regardless of the style or size. This could relate to project management – getting the job done in the time scale available, CD production – helping you sort all that is required from artwork to the final CD in your grubby little hand, Song writing – we have a pool of amazing songwriters that record their tunes at 27D, and all love the opportunity to collaborate to help you achieve your goal,  Steve is able to take your idea and turn it into a fully finished masterpiece, or you may just need help with your social presence, give you a hand with marketing or helping with that all-important  Press Kit, etc. Just ask…

Tuition: Steve has been teaching privately for over 35 years and as a lecturer at a local college for over 25 years. This has included teaching all areas of the music industry, recording skills, working with sequencing packages such as Cubase, Ableton Live, Protools etc. He teaches guitar and bass, song writing including harmonic analysis, and currently his private teaching clients include teenagers to octogenarians

Restoration and Mastering.

Here is an example of some of our restoration work. This is a song from 1982 that was on 1/4 inch tape (VERSION A) the tape required baking and then transferring to the digital domain before mastering. The client wanted the song to ready for digital streaming services this is VERSION B.

A bit of background the client had some success with a video they had posted on Facebook and had lots of requests for a full song version of the song; the song was written for Craig’s Godson, who was tragically taken from us. He wrote the song as a tribute to him. The final version gives an example of what 27D can do for your music.
